In Europe, numerous cities had changed their national affiliation as a result of wars in the period from around 1850, when the expression of national identities in architecture was also in demand in the context of historicism, to 1945, when a modern international style had prevailed almost everywhere. This volume brings together the results of two conferences in Innsbruck and Dublin, where the consequences of these changes in architecture and urban planning were discussed.
